D ’ banj , who in 2012 left the record label he
co - founded , Mo ’ Hits , following conflict with
his partner Don Jazzy , has been rumoured to
be on the brink of financial ruin .
Critics have also lambasted him for failing to
produce a hit single since the split .
Speaking to On- Air-Personality , Olisa Adibua ,
on his eponymous show , The Truth by Olisa
Adibua , Dbanj said the past two years since
the split has been some of the best years of
his life .
He noted that for a long time , while with
Mo’ Hits , he was forced to share his revenue
from performances with other members of the
label , which included D ’ Prince , Dr . Sid ,
Wande Coal and D ’ Banj ’ s brother, K Switch .
“This has been the best two years of my life ,”
he said .
Mr. Adibua also challenged the Oliver Twist
singer on the rumour that he was having
trouble retaining staff and was being sued by
an unnamed businessman whom Dbanj owed
loads of money.
Dbanj said he still worked with his staff and
on the alleged court case: “My lawyers told
me not to say anything since it’ s allegedly a
rumour,” he said . “It ’ s so painful that people
know you are such a huge brand that God
has blessed, and they feel the best thing to
do is defamation of character .”
On his lack of hits, Dbanj, demanded what
constituted a hit , insisting that on the
contrary , his career has boomed since he
went solo .
The artiste said he would be releasing his
new line of headphones and would have
launched by January if things had gone as
planned.
He also revealed that he is collaborating with
phone company , Apple , but refused to reveal
details of the contract . He, however , claimed
that the phones were “already sold out ”.
